Dr. Fozia Alvi
President & Founder
Dr. Fozia Alvi, grew up in Pakistan and is an American-trained physician who has been working in Calgary, Alberta, for the past 13 years. Her and her husband Tahir Alvi have always been passionate humanitarians and have organized several health and education-related projects in developing nations, including opening a charity-based maternity hospital in rural Pakistan. She has been traveling to Bangladesh to support Rohingya refugees since 2017, when Myanmar’s army began mass killings of the country’s minority Muslim Rohingya population. The medical mission to the Bangladesh refugees’ camps in 2017 was moved by the plight of the Rohingya and she has since been an advocate for them. She has spoken at various international levels about this genocide and is also involved in advocacy for the Uyghurs of China and putting a stop to illegal organ harvesting. She currently runs Humanity Auxilium and organizes medical relief missions. Dr. Alvi firmly believes it is our role and responsibility to help in any way that we can. “You need to do what you can and live with your actions later on; donate, write to an MP, or even simply tell a friend or family member. The best case scenario is you’ll have played a small role in mitigating a genocide. Worst case, you’ll have fulfilled a commitment to your fellow human beings,” Alvi says. She has been given various awards for her advocacy work including being a Nobel Prize Nominee in 2019 and the recipient of the Advocacy Award in 2019 by CAMSS. Alvi is incredibly passionate and dedicated to her work and continues to work hard every single day to support people around the world.
